what sort of rights do developers retain when leveraging their knowledge to code processes for my project? i.e. Does it go beyond the business and cover the actual code processes that they are the experts at or is that the sort of thing that is mostly covered under non compete clauses and specific to the actual application? How deep does ownership of a work for hire go if they learn and build new common components while working for me… specifically for me?
You mentioned 1099's, is it possible or advantageous in any way to give contractors a W-2 instead of 1099? If they work on my premises can they still be given 1099 or are they automatically considered w-2 when working on my premises for an extended time period (i.e. 6-month contract employee) ? Do I have any other obligations (i.e. health benefits) when they work on my project onsite for an extended period?
I would like to see a step by step approach to the new FTC regulations on affiliate marketing online. Some recent case law would be great.
Thanks, this is really an important and often overlooked issue these days.

I would like to learn more about this Lou. All the regulations, from 1099s to can spam stuff…and of course contracts with affiliates and so on can be overwhelming.
I would appreciate if you could comment during the webinar on the variances in Canada vs the U.S. regulations.
Thanks, Lou, for the great info you continue to provide.
Is there somewhere we can get decent generic documents required for our website, preferably free or low cost?
I would like to know specifically what we need to display on our websites, blogs, and emails and where can we get the disclaimers, privacy policies, and any other required notifications that need to be there.
I see so many marketers STILL sending affiliate email promos to me without putting the notification that they are going to be compensated if I purchase thur their link. I personally don't care about that at all but the FTC just might – so why do even these bigger name level marketers continue to do stuff like this??
Can't wait for this webinar – Thanks,
Tom Waldon
Hi Lou,
My question for tonight is :
How much does the Copyright Statement in the end of a video protect our content ?
What more can we do? Does regulations apply equally for everybody on the net,
or is there some local aspects to it?
Great to have a webinar on legal issues,
thanks
Ulrika
Great to have
Lou, I have another question. I wanted to know what is our legal responsibility promoting products. I get offers to promote health supplements, FOREX products, and so on. I don't know how good they all are. While I wouldn't promote obviously detrimental stuff, what is my responsibility for product flaws, etc. when I am relying on the information I am given and acting in good faith promoting the product?
I will be creating content (FAQ, articles, video) for my website. I will be using my competition content and rewrite it (diff style, words and etc). Is this illegal? if not, where is the red line that I shouldn't cross?
I appreciate if you could share a website that I can get contracts for online business for FREE or at low cost. Example of contracts: hiring somebody based on commision, contract with clients for providing service, cancellation policies, contract for hiring somebody to create a video, but I own the video
How do I access the presentation?
Dale – check your email please – i just sent you the info.
