I am middle age woman and want to start again, but now with my live
    experience and still young brain.
    I think everything is possible,
even great luck for me now.

  2. Robert Fowler says:

    Lou,
I look forward to your call. Hmm, not sure how to brand myself as my first site is a tele-seminar series as well!

Working on the blog now, doubt it will be up by Sunday, LOL

However, if Ben has any comments, I am obviously interested in his opinions and advice. I have heard nothing but good things about him since I started this journey.

Ben…Ben…Ben…I’m living in the dark and need you to shine the light of knowledge upon me so others may see me and profit from my name.
A name that by any other measure would just be another, but with you by my side, the world shall know.
Let us prosper side by side, kindred spirits, a light in the darkness.

Undoubtedly, I am ‘The Chosen One’ for the coaching session, and here’s how you can know it as I do ;-)

I am sitting on the edge of a billion-dollar opportunity in a niche I have ‘created’ out of the fringes of 3 multi-billion-dollar niches. I am THE AUTHORITY in that fringe area where nobody has ever ‘delved’.

This is the border of advetising, marketing and signage for brick and mortar businesses.

I have been working physically and am a web-newbie – learning EVERY system, tool and technique available to position myself as THE EXPERT, and I could use the guidance…too.

    Hi Ben!
When I read my emails and then click on the links I get “me too internet marketing websites about internet marketing or webinar about coaching others how to do internet marketing of info products or membership sites of info products”. If I made you dizzy, that is how I feel closing those windows on my browser. Whatever I bought I had hard time to get my refund not to mention frustration of wasted time and energy.
I am a manager if a small personal injury law firm in NYC. Our website did not bring even one client. Insurance lobby succeeded in brain washing people that all lawyers are bad and crooks. Plus to many people lawyers are commodity. Ben, I fail to see how you can make for us “unforgettable branding and market positioning”. On the other hand if I’m wrong and you do do it, then this success will speak for itself, as well as for yourself! That is WHY YOU SHOULD PEACK ME. LOL

  6. Belva says:

    Lou,

I was one of your teleseminar students and you have always had my trust so I know this would be a great opportunity.

I am confident that with the right manner of branding, my niche would be of great benefit to many others.

How many people know the full extent of being a visual-spatial learner? Believe me, I have a full understanding of what it means to be a VSL. I want to enlighten others to their true potentials using their overlooked and perhaps under-appreciated talents.

I have almost completed my first ebook and am creating some ecourses on this subject as well. I have a LOT of ideas but I could use help branding my niche so that I effectively reach my targeted audience.

Ben could be the answer to my prayers.

    Hi Lou and Ben.

What a great opportunity!! Who doesn’t need help with branding? I have been playing around with an idea for over a year and, while I have done a lot of work and some writing about the topic, and have sort of created myself a niche, I am uncertain about how to brand myself. I am refering to my business as a career coach where I guide people to the tools they need to follow their dream, even become famous. I want to become branded as the expert who people run to when they want to Dream Big. Marcy J.

  8. Gabriel says:

    Ben & Lou:

The insecurity that I have in front requires a strong dose of knowledge. I feel like a fish out of water.

    Receive warm regards,

  9. Kelly Hobkirk says:

    Ben,
In your book, Think Two Products Ahead, you have written many of the things that I have been telling my clients for years, and then some. I am dumbfounded by the current corporate masses who seem to think that marketing has somehow magically changed. Marketing is always going to be about the same thing. The methods may change, the approach may evolve, but the end goal is still the same.

I have been running my ad agency for over 15 years, using the same basic formula, and it’s worked reasonably well. In the last couple of years, it has gotten a lot more difficult, and I can’t quite figure out why. With all the current marketing books confusing people with the repackaging of old ideas, I am now constantly having to explain the basics of what branding and marketing should do instead of focusing on our own marketing and our client projects. This wasted time has made my job so much harder and so much more time-consuming that sometimes I feel like I am just floundering.

I would love to be guided by you in developing my Legend Platform so that I can put it to use right away. What better way could there be to show prospective clients what we can do for them?

Thanks for reading, and thanks for a freaking awesome, very inspiring, weighty book.

  10. The Jeet Kune Do Rebel says:

Ben, you know how Mixed Martial Arts is dominating the combat sports arena but attracting only the 18-34 male demographic? Well, it’s also hurting the traditional approach of MA training as a tool for personal development.
I plan to reverse this situation and need as much help as I can get to package the information and get it out to the market.
What do you think of this attempt to bring balance back to this industry?
    Regards,
    Dwight
P.S. I plan to use Bruce Lee as a paragon of excellence in this endeavour

  11. Mike E says:

    Ben My Friend!

Well. Why don’t I take a quick second to describe our young friendship to readers. Because our friendship is interesting. Thus far — I think we met 2 nights ago.

Ben & I live in the same small city in south east Vermont. A mutual pal tipped each of us off to the other’s existence. I thank the pal for it. In fact if I win this $5000 I plan to chunk off a handsome finders fee for him.

My buddy the pal has good instincts. He has listened as much as anyone to my astonishing stream of utterly fantastic, one of a kind big money fast stratagems. I am Big Time into ideas. Daydreams. When my brainz get on a super roll my thoughts turn outright fantastically wishful.

Those wishful thoughts are the best thing about Mike E.

Worst thing about being me is that I’m perpetually SOL when it comes to venture capital. And a vision without funds is a big fat heartache just waiting to happen.

Now, Ben here just wrote a book about marketing. It’s called ThinkTwoProducts Ahead and — for this I hugely congratulate my new friend — it is currently at I believe #4 on the WSJ’s bestseller list. This I feel speaks spectacularly of my new friend’s entrepreneurial steerage.

Not sure whether Ben told that specifically to our mutual pal. But whatever Ben did say convinced our pal with good instincts that Ben & I share an entrepreneurial affinity.

He was all like, “Whoa dude. You GOT TO meet my friend Mike E!”

I’m inclined to think highly of Ben’s instincts too. After all he was genuinely stoked to meet me. And I’m a good dude to meet.

And now here I am — in the midst of my pitch for that $5000 dollar grant that Ben will give to someone tomorrow. And by my good estimate, even before I’ve written a substantive word about just what it is I propose to do, I submit that I’m already potently poised to win.

Now I’m a writer. So when I see one I know it and if I win — we got us one hell of a good story.

So good I’ll devote an entire chapter of my own forthcoming novel to these first 48-odd hours of my friendship with Ben.

But only if I win. Because mine is a tale of triumph. And the good instincts triumph requires. So I’ve no room in the book for this Ben character unless his instinct proves as keen as my pal who introduced us.

Hell I’ll take this a step further and assure you that if someone else wins this contest — well then Ben’s instinct sucks monkey doo. And his book is a worthless farce.

    Take my word for it!

But I doubt that’ll happen. Ben has good instincts. I can win this thing. I feel superbly excited.

    I feel My Time & it’s now.

I propose to use that $5000 to fund my initial foray into the Book Business.

My book business has a name:

    Loaded Ink.

I’m not quite sure yet what Loaded Ink does. Not mechanically. But in spirit Loaded Ink serves an ideal; to elicit from writers the smashingly best shit they have ever written. Get their finished products into the hands of the readers for whom the book was wrote. And find ways to make their herculean effort pay.

I know a handful of people who are currently writing books. Many more will begin their’s in the months ahead. More still toy idly, of their own volition, with the notion that they should write books. And finally there are those — often with the best stuff to say — who’re for various reasons skeptical of the prospect.

These writers are among the best & most dangerous & exciting up & comers on all Planet Earth. My friends. Awesome.

Nevertheless some drag their heels. In such cases I go on & toy with the book notion for them.

One huge reason I want Loaded Ink: To use as a tool to better peer pressure reluctant would-be novelists.

To serve that purpose Loaded Ink must be gigantically fun.

Above all Loaded Ink is designed to be a writers ally.

When I win this contest the first thing I’ll do is rush beneath Loaded Ink’s freshly unfurled banner to the aid of my all time favorite writer.

His is the absolute classic Loaded Ink to-the-rescue scenario. Loaded Ink is in the story business. Our specialty is the success story. And my favorite writer has a refreshing abundance of the raw want to succeed.

Nothing stands in his way. Except all the obstacles. A few hidden pitfalls. And hoop after hoop to jump through.

Not to mention the asphyxiating smolder of homelessness & abject poverty.

He keeps his spirits up through it all though — by being his own favorite writer.

See? I do my part. Just happens that, for complicated reasons, I got a couple of the more stubborn problems. Yet even these are remarkably solvable.

Take the homelessness. Add $5000. Problem solved.

Now I can live my dream. Which dream? To settle in somewhere & get On It. I have a book to write.

Matter of fact mine is Loaded Ink’s flagship novel.

It’s called War On Sobriety. I originally dreamed it up as a “book about drugs.” Because they say write about what you know. And well.

But what does it mean “book about drugs?” Above all: get your readers rocks off. Warp Brains. Just like we did back on Grateful Dead tour.

I want my readers to have at least one moment in my pages that renders them dumbfounded when asked:

    What planet am I on?

I also want to be a billionaire. That alone justifies my choice of “drugs” as the topic for my first novel. Drugs sell! And I have every reason to hope War On Sobriety will sell even more robustly.

Especially since there’ll be no charge. I am going to give War On Sobriety away for free. Just like all those first hits of crack cocaine we used to give out free to the school children.

Get it? “About Drugs.” First book is free!

To compensate for the loss of cover price revenue I propose to sell sponsorship opportunities. For example: ever listen to Hank 3? Hank Williams that is. But not Hank Sr. nor Jr.

    Hank Williams the Third.

Hank 3 does an Outlaw Country cover of Snoop Doggy Dogg’s famous hip hop anthem Gin & Juice. His concerts feature a set by Hank 3’s death metal band. Hank 3’s death metal band plays a song called Cops Shoot Dope; always a big time crowd-pleaser!

It is accurate to say that Hank 3 & I share a target audience.

Perhaps he would like to slip a CD into the War On Sobriety package. If he does he’ll be rewarded by new fans who, like I, got hooked on his bad ass the very first time I listened.

Selective Marketing. Smarter than Google. More fun.

If Hank will oblige it’ll be my honor to make one of his the Official Outlaw Country Song of War On Sobriety.

    For the usual fee.

    How ’bout this one:

Well, I’ve been awake for eight days straight:
Well, it must’ve been them pills I took.
I been twitchin’ an’ turnin’ an’ seein’ visions:
It must’ve been them pills I took.

    Selective Marketing.

What would Bill Hicks say indeed.

Well. Bill Hicks is a smart dude and he knows Art. So he might ask me if my book about drugs was actually about anything? Because it sounded to him like a 99 cent no-plot porn paperback. Except instead of bad sex scenes it was about that one time we all got fucked up on drugs. And then that other time. And then…would there be any lesbians humping? If not he’d probably suggest I give everyone a heroic dosage of Alien Turdz and skip the book altogether.

Because the book with nothing but pills in it is already written. It’s called the Physicians Desk Reference.

Point is books can’t survive on drugs alone. Even with a free Hank 3 CD.

That’s why I’ve decided to use the lesbians.

And maybe even add a narrative. A story line. And something else I can’t remember.

Ah — oh yes. I remember! My story needs a real good Hero.

    I wonder who that’ll be?

Well. I could create a hero character based on the life of me. Then tell the story 3rd person. But that would oblige me to refer to myself as He or Him instead of the more dignified ME ME ME. Which would diminish my god given sense of self importance.

I would never do such a thing.

I am the hero. Get it?

    Me!!

What would I do if I truly were my own hero?

I’d win this $5000 grant contest.

And feel certain — more so than most days — that it is I who happens to know — frikkin precisely — what I am doing.

Then hop a first class seat on the next train to New York City. Check into the Brooklyn Motor Inn. Pay up front for one month. Want to be like me when I grow up. Be me.

    And then get to work.

I have a book to write. It’s about a homeless blogger who happens to be Planet Earth’s foremost expert on recreational drugs. So I decided to write a book about them. Because they’re fun. But also quite dangerous. So I want mine to be a voice kids can trust.

And did I mention I think it will sell?

From there the project has coalesced appreciably — in my mind but not on paper. Truly it is hard to write — even with my own laptop — when you’re homeless.

Dependent on arrays of factors over which there’s little control a blog post is sometimes doable.

But a book? Someone may be able to write a book when they’re homeless. Not me.

I think my writing suffers a quality loss from homelessness. I know I frustrate immeasurably faster compared with times when I’ve occasionally been able to write in hotel rooms.

I want to see what kind of stuff my favorite writer scorches out of his actual desk — sometime real soon — when he finally gets home.

I can’t get started on the book out here. Maybe I just don’t want to? No one would. I will not write it while I sit on some curb. My book deserves better. For that matter so do I.

By “better” I simply mean the same advantages afforded any other writer who has work to do.

My goal is to have the first chapter — complete with advertisements — ready for mass distribution by the Winter Solstice.

My next goal is to repay the $5000 I hope you’ll award me today — into Loaded Ink’s bank account — and award it myself to a writer with their own readily solvable problem.

Whatever else it may become, Loaded Ink will be a place where writer’s problems get solved.

Like I hope mine will be today.

You got good instincts and I know you trust them. So now I can’t do much but wait. Either way thanks are in order. It is not every day that I’m presented with an opportunity to compete for a grant that gets paid out the next day!

So thanks for giving me this rare & refreshing shot at the life I want to live. I feel like a contender.

    Way,
    Mike E

  12. Lily says:

    Hi Lou,

I work as a Success Coach in Australia. Up until now my business has grown through word of mouth, referrals, face to face networking and off line advertising. Recently, I moved to a small town and started marketing my business online as my main way of networking. This is the area I want to focus on to increase my profile and my business.

After listening to Ben’s nine wise nuggets I realised that I have ‘forgettable branding’ that is not serving me as well as it could, or placing me in a strong marketing position on the net. I am quite new to the internet and have not spent much time on practical measures to increase exposure for my business. I also know that this takes time and is much different than face to face meetings, as people do not know me.

Whether I am chosen to participate live on the Legend Platform or not, I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from this upcoming session. I have already gleaned some great gems to take with me and implement on my site. I look forward to learning the principles that will grow my success to greater heights.

Thank you for providing this opportunity to each of us.

    Lily

  13. Kendra E Thornbury says:

This is exciting! What a wonderful opportunity you are providing. I’d love your business and branding savvy.

I live and play big. I am ready to serve on another level, and am attracting the resources and mentors to make it happen.

My purpose is to inspire and guide people to be fully alive. Ben, I am a change agent, teacher, path cutter, coach, facilitator, mediator, idealist and much more.

    Check out my work, SpiritAlive.

    http://www.spiritalive.net

I think if I were in your shoes, there would be a few key factors in my decision for the “chosen one”.

*Does the person align with my values and vision? It’s so juicy to support people on a common mission. Fulfill your purpose by helping me fulfill mine!

*Will the person’s work touch thousands, if not millions, of people’s lives? There will be great satisfaction in supporting me in impacting many people’s lives in meaningful ways. This is also a win-win for you (more awareness regarding your work).

I’m passionate about life and my calling. While this keeps my life dynamic and full, I find my passion and tool box can keep me a bit broad in my business. I’ve lacked the confidence and know how to commit to a “niche” or brand. I think branding, in part, is about declaration.

It’s an exciting time of change and a new world is before us that is riddled with joy, freedom, vitality and prosperity. Do join me!

Thank you for your time and attention.

    Be well and alive. WAHOOOO!

    Kendra :)

I am a former brick and mortar elearning specialist who has created a video product for a underserved niche in health care. All my market research tells me this will be a huge market. I just put up my WordPress blog which still needs some work and branding, and am just getting to the first page of the website which also is primed for branding. As I plan to work all this around both online and offline marketing, if you could help me with the branding, I could incorporate that into everything. This product is ready to go, with back end products ready to go. We are in the final stages and if you choose me, I’d consider a JV deal. I haven’t confided in one person who has not looked at me with their mouth open and told me I have a winner.

  15. Josette says:

    Lou,

Thanks for the telephone reminder of the call this evening. I am really psyched about learning about branding myself.

My market is a women who are divorced or widowed later in life who believed a man was a financial plan. These women are now on their own and struggling with money issues as they never had to manage their money before. They may feel mathematically challenged, overwhelmed by the loss of their partner and in general incapable of handling their finances.

My goal is to show these women how to figure out where they are at financially and then take that knowledge to improve their situation. This may be done through reading my book, Money is Freedom and Safety and my blog http://www.suddenlysingleblog.com , plus teleseminars, webinars and in person seminars.

The ultimate testament is when they can stand on their own and say “I can manage my own finances! I can hire a financial planner to help with decisions, while the final decision rests with me.”
That is when I feel my job is done.

Having been divorced, with a mountain of debt and worked my way out of that situation I am uniquely qualified to help women in similar situations improve their lives.

I am leaning towards using the colors in my book cover in creating my brand however, I’m not sure if that is the best way to do it.
I would love to work with Ben to makeover my image/brand so that it says “financially challenged women Josette Mandela can help you achieve financial freedom and safety”.

    Looking forward to the call.
    Josette

  16. Linda L. Pannell says:

I have created an online center/university for training and certification in Nature’s Laws, Universal Laws, and Indigenous Earth Wisdom for planetary healing. We are also a virtual sound/vibrational healing and training center. This is the true law of attraction–a whole new level of “the Secret”. My presenters are shamans, Native Americans, Indigenous Wisdom Keepers, Earth Healers, complementary/alternative/integrative healing practitioners, and other life artists for conscious planetary healing and transfomation from all parts of the globe. Together, we create
    online media to inspire healing/heart, education/entertainment, art/alliances, resources/relationships, and training/transformation. We are
creating a Global Earth Community, A Council of Global Elders, a space for
    like-minded, high-vibrational life-artists ready to create a new foundation
for healing the earth and her children, transforming the space by our presence, and
creating a bridge between ancient indigenous wisdom and innovative technology
for a brand new future and a brand new earth. We want to create new paradigms of business, relationship, love, intimacy, leadership, coaching; to expand the reach of the feminine heart vibration and voice (not necessary to be a woman) of love, magnetism, receptivity, and pure creational power. More than mind, body, spirit, we want wholeness…spirit, heart, earth, soul, body, mind, business, relationship, leadership, intimacy, tantra, sacred sexuality, remembering our divinity, stepping into our power in ways that are the biggest big for everyone everywhere all ways and always. Bringing love, heart, and passion back to business, healing the planet, creating a format to expand the reach of every feminine voice and heart vibration; to bring coaching into whole new dimension, creating abundance easily and effortlessly.
My target market is conscious businesses, women leaders, and both complemenary and integrative healers and practitioners and the people they serve. This is far too big and too important to do alone, and I want to be present my ideas to potential alliance partners from my heart to create one heart, one voice, one vibration for planetary healing. I know it is big, but it is my purpose and my passion.

    Linda L. Pannell

  17. Margham says:

    Hi Ben,

What if you had a serious product (leading to a series of products) that fills a critical void in the home health care field? That will touch millions of lives and help caregivers avoid many injuries, frustrations, burnout…?

There’s a void right now. And the market is HUGE. I know. My partner and I have done our research. And we have both “been there” – former corporate executives totally untrained for our experiences caring for aging, infirm, homebound, dying parents.

Then there’s my professional woman friend who is caring for her autistic grandchild – and another friend caring for a child who has a long recovery ahead from an accident.

And my friend whose 6′5″ husband has Huntington’s Disease – and no one taught her how to transfer him safely from wheelchair to car… so she ended up blowing out her knee!

It could happen to anyone. At any age. Your child, spouse, best friend, parents …

Studies show 75% of Americans do not have adequate financial plans for such things, and Medicare doesn’t cut it.

2007 studies show most Americans will die from chronic and degenerative diseases – meaning long periods of care.

For many, care at home is all that is affordable. For 75% of the aging, care at home is the choice. So how will family caregivers cope? Even with outside help?

A nurse showing you how to do something once isn’t sufficient in many instances. And what of the things no one bothered to explain. What if someone came along and answered these for you .. with videos to show you how?

Huge market. Huge need. Millions affected … IF we can reach them successfully!

We HAVE the belief system – in ourselves, in our product, in the need.

We HAVE the burning desire to help others.

We HAVE the education and business world experience … and the unfortunate experience of being thrust into the position of those in our target market. We can identify. We can empathize.

So how can we best “brand” ourselves and our product? Make this a “Legend of Sunshine, Hope, and Help?”

My partner and I will both be on the call … So if you choose us, you will have TWO to remember and implement your instructions. (Not to mention being open to your suggestions of additional ways in which we might work together.)

    We’re a winner – but a much larger one if a “Legend!”

  18. Linda Roggli says:

    Yikes
Only 10 minutes til showtime and I just returned from a weekend conference where I debuted ADDiva (a-dee-deeva), the first network that supports ADD-ish women (Attention Deficit Disorder).

I launched ADDiva three months ago, will unveil a new website next week ( currently at http://www.adddiva.com ) but now have the temporary site at my current site . (http://www.addiva.net)

I’m adding about 100 members a month to the aweber email list but want to move into the thousands very quickly. Lots of JV possibilities — the field is wide open. A search on women’s ADD yields only a smattering of sites.

The time to strike is NOW with a fabulous, well conceived marketing and branding strategy that will allow the vision to be realized:

–a worldwide network that celebrates ADDivas

–a parallel network of ADDiva coaches, workshops, retreats, webinars, teleclasses that offer education and fun for ADDivas

–a shift in perception about ADDivas and any other “disability” from “ain’t it awful” to “wow – look at your strengths.”

Everyone. EVERYONE has such amazing talents. A label like ADD shouldn’t
    be a limitation…right?
    Hugs
    Linda
